Ghost Club - A Neo Tokyo Rave

Never before has humankind had the capacity to connect than they do now. I left the city during the pandemic and with it my physical connections and cultural outlets. This left a void, as one could imagine. During my virtual explorations, I have sought out ways to fill this void and to cultivate meaningful connections and interactions, and experiences. A case in point was the spectacle of a dance party that I attended this past weekend. Based in Tokyo, Ghost Club is a collaborative of digital ravers and creators.

Upon entering the world of Ghost Club you are transported from a telephone booth in the dark to a moody, cyberpunk cityscape. After exploring an "abandoned" warehouse you start to see people and their numbers grow the more you explore. Eventually, after following the muted thumps of bass and broken conversations you stumble into the main dance hall and enter into a world unlike any other.
